March is underway and that means another Tim Tag! Here is my take.
It seems like every time I do a Tim tag I don't have even half the supplies he uses. So from that perspective it is time I buy some more art supplies right? I mean, a girl can only hold out for so long, and there are many wonderful new supplies being released! I wasn't going to purchase art supplies until April but I am not going to be able to make it. Lol!
The Tim Tag Journey:
I started with applying some washi tape to my tag and then using the Distress Paints I had on hand to create the background.
I then added the butterflies. I used stickers because I don't have his butterfly stamp. :)
I cut everything that was hanging over the edge of the tag and then cut out a mask (leftover clear plastic from a stamp set-upcycle! and I get to keep the mask to use over and over) then taped it to the sticker so my stencil wouldn't be on the butterflies.
You can see the tape in the picture above and it worked out really well (IMO).
I used the Crafters Workshop 6x6 "Art Is" stencil and homemade texture paste. I then used C'est la vie Cerise LSG embossing powder. Heat the embossing powder AFTER the texture paste is completely dry (I did it when it was wet because I didn't read all of Tims instructions) Oops! But it turned out okay.
I then added my beautiful blue ribbon and also used some blue and white twine to add my metal heart piece. The metal embellies went on last.
Here is a picture of most of the supplies I used.
This tag is bright and cheerful and makes me want Spring to get here fast! I hope you enjoyed the process and have a lovely day! Carpe Diem! ~Niki
Thank you for stopping by and leaving your lovely comments. It sure does mean a lot to me!
This project will be shared with the following wonderful challenges:
The Mirror Crack'd-Make anything using Wings HERE
Stampin' Royalty CHallenge 269-Embossing HERE I used the clear embossing powder on my butterfly.
Crafter's Cafe Challenge-Use a Charm-HERE I used a heart shaped charm on the top of my tag.
What a fantastic take on Tim's tag!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Samra! Cheerful colors for Spring!
DeleteGorgeous tag and congrats to Janine!
ReplyDeleteThank you Deb! Hugz and happy crafting!
DeleteNiki thanks for alerting me to the linky playing up! I can't see why it has blocked you, unless for some reason it dislikes the fact that you had a hyphen after the word crack'd! Other than that I suspect it was having some kind of hissy fit, sorry.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, I have published your gorgeous entry to the linky myself now. What a stunning tag, love the vibrancy of the colour palette and those butterflies look amazing. I have a few acetate butterfly stickers myself and you have inspired me to have a play with them, thank you.
As for needing more supplies, I have a veritable craft shop inside my bedroom but I can't stop getting more supplies either, lol

DeleteGORGEOUS Doc!! Love that background, wow!! Great stencil choice too! You know, sometimes I heat up the embossing powder before the texture paste has dried, on purpose!! It will bubble up and give you a really unique look! Happy accidents make great techniques! haha! hugs, bubbles :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Bubbles! You sure are correct, it did bubble and the letters became a bit smudged but it is okay. I love happy accidents and agree that you an learn some great new techniques that way. Lol! Hugzzzzz to you muffin!

Thanks Shilpa! Bright Spring colors and happy thoughts helped in making this tag. Hehe!
DeleteBeautiful tag, Niki! I love the bright colors and your butterfly stickers are a great substitute! You know I never had the "goodies" needed for the tags, so I never participated in the challenge. I entered for the first time Nov.2014, and said "what the heck, I'm doing one anyway", and won! I think it's great you have thought outside the box! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome Sara! I am thrilled that you won and didn't have all the supplies. It just goes to show that it can be done! Now we wait for the April tag. Hehe!
DeleteFantastic tag and beautiful colours!
ReplyDeleteMar
Thanks so much Mar! :)
DeleteThis is such a beautiful tag!!! How do you make your texture paste 'cause yours looks much better than mine looks!!
ReplyDeleteHaha! Thanks Lisa. I use baby powder, elmers white glue, and white acrylic paint. I mix all 3 and add a small amount of water. The consistency is a little thicker than toothpaste. If it is too thin I just add more baby powder. Hope that helps! Hugz!
DeleteSuper wonderful Congratzzzzz Niki! I adore your can do attitude and you do it! So happy for you!~kim
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim! Seems like we both are having a good month so far. Hugz to you muffin!
DeleteCongratulations, Nikki! Your tag is brilliant! Love everything - the texture, the colors, your fabulous butterflies! I am very happy for you! Well done!
