I joined an ATC swap and knew I wanted to do something in the realms of Steampunk so I created these three ATCs. They measure 2.5x3.5
I used a NEW embossing folder from TH (Postcard) for all 3 backgrounds. I then tried a NEW technique of heat embossing the silver one and distressing it to create a tarnished look. TIP: Heat emboss the ATC before running it through your die machine.
This greenish one was achieved using Inka Gold Metallic rub green/yellow. I used 3 gears on this one (under the rose)
This gold one was made using Rub-N-Buff European Gold. I used 3 gears on this one as well.
Thank you for stopping by and leaving your lovely comments, it brightens my day. Carpe Diem!
This project will be shared with the following:

Bridgette-thank you! I haven't used much rub n buff but I am really liking the effect and it's fun to work with your fingers. Hehe!

ReplyDeleteThank you Donna and I am so glad that you think they look metallic, my job is done. Lol!
DeleteYour ATCs are really extraordinary, Niki! My goodness, the detail on each one is just fabulous! I could not stop staring at them to make sure I didn't miss anything. They look so real and like they weigh a ton from all the "metal!" Now I don't do steampunk, but that doesn't mean I don't love looking at steampunk, and I've enjoyed seeing a lot of it (especially from my British friends who are devotees of Sir Timmy Holtz), and I think you ROCK steampunk!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge #3 and for joining me as a follower! It's a pleasure to meet you and follow you back! I hope to see you again soon! Hugs, Darnell

Thank you Avril! Now I am trying to figure out a rusting technique, we shall see what happens. Sometimes I feel like a mad scientist working on projects. Lol
DeleteWow, these are fabulous! I love the metallic-looking background and all of the little bits to look at. As luck would have it, I have an ATC swap coming up with a steampunk theme - will have to give this technique a whirl. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie! Best kind of ATC swap ever, in my opinion. Lol. It does my heart wonders to hear I have inspired someone. To me that is the greatest compliment. Thanks so much! ~Niki
DeleteAs a Tim Holtz and Steampunk fan I love your wonderful ATCs Niki, they are fabulous. You really have packed so much detail into each and every one, there is so much to see. I just want to reach out and touch them.... especially the gorgeous peacock feather - beautiful work! Anne x
ReplyDeleteThank you Anne! The peacock one is my favorite of the three. That feather was donated by a very loud peacock, he will wake anyone up very very early. They are gorgeous animals but can be a bit of a pain in the rear. Lol! ~Niki
DeleteGorgeous ATCs Niki! Not sure how I missed these beauties! So gorgeous! I need you to teach me your embossing technique! So stunning. Love love them!
